The Climate Will Take Care of Itself

By I. M. Ulysses

After reading Rex Murphy's "So why aren't we celebrating saving the planet" I was reminded of a quote from the movie 'The Core. "I came here to save my wife and my two children. Seven billion lives, it's too much."

It's too much because, for the average guy, proving for your loved ones is far more important than the vagaries of 'climate change' and what might or might not happen now or 300 years from now. When you have a mortgage or rent to pay, electricity, heat and water, food and clothing, the other issues don't matter.

Politicians, however, don't seem interested in that.  Perhaps that's because they are inherently disconnected with the people they were ostensibly elected to serve. Indeed, US President Obama called "climate change" a 'bigger threat' to the world than even terrorism.

That's actually a very sad statement.  It demonstrates that the 'little people,' the ones who do most of the living, tax-paying and dying, are not that important when, as Mr. Murphy pointed out, world leaders wish to be seen "slaying a world-threatening dragon that has yet to be allows them all the strut and self-importance that trivial matters like deficits, job creation, and commitment to everyday peoples’ struggles do not. The latter is real work, the former a magnet for spotlights and inflated self-grandeur."

Terrorism, unemployment, higher taxes, higher prices for food and transportation all have an immediate and consequential impact upon our lives. If one loses their job, they cannot afford to live NOW, let alone be concerned with the theories of well-paid scientists and professional political hacks drum up and support.

From a historical-perspective, it might give leaders like Prime Minister Trudeau or President Obama great satisfaction to know that in 300 years people may give them credit for 'saving' the world by implementing polices that might have 'prevented climate change.' But most people, the people that will struggle to pay for their policies, and their hypothetical outcomes, and their egotistical legacies, don't care about that. Their struggle is the struggle to live long enough and well enough to ensure they can provide for their families NOW.

That's the problem with the current climate-change mania. These political leaders are asking us to sacrifice NOW for hypothetical outcomes that MAY benefit people down the road.

That would be fine if we were certain that these sacrifices are both necessary and worthwhile. But, as appealing as the idea may be to some, for the rest of us, It's too big a notion to contemplate.

For the rest of us, for my wife and I in particular, what really matters is  the security, happiness and health of our friends and family NOW. The concerns of generations to be born years from now matter little when you cannot pay your bills, buy food and just live.

That may seem selfish to those who are certain about 'climate change' and the need for us to make sacrifices for the future. But Mary and I, along with most people, are not concerned about the self-important posturing and preening of people who are both wealthy and important enough to not be affected by the policies they hope to implement.

We're more concerned about the well-being and health of people we love and care for NOW. And as long as they and we are doing fine, I'm sure, to paraphrase Trudeau, 'the climate will take care of itself."

Trump-ing the Vote: The Donald and the Ban on Muslim Immigration

By I.M. Ulysses

I understand how nutty it is to consider a reality-show ‘star’ like Donald J. Trump being a president of anything more complex than a school debating society. I also get that he is stirring the pot and how liberal-types are all up in arms about this "demagogue" becoming a world leader.
A month ago, I felt the same way when Canada’s own underwear model and poster-boy for self-indulgent-but-vapid-rich-kids Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister (I’m still waiting to find out how he will grow the economy ‘from the heart outwards’). But if my brain can survive that shock (ok, it took a bit of heavy drinking, and lots of ‘it’s ok, we’ll be all right’ reassurances from my wife I’ll admit) I'm sure American democracy can survive Donald Trump.
What it cannot survive, though, is the collective ignorance of people who jump all over those who agree with Trump's plan to limit or ban Muslims immigration.
The rhetoric from Liberals and their allies reminds me a robot that has become stuck in a subroutine, repeating the same mantras over and over again. It all begins with ‘racism’ and ends with ‘racism’ but the fact is Trump’s plan to halt Muslim immigration is NOT RACIST.
LISTEN CAREFULLY – ISLAM IS NOT A RACE it is a RELIGION and an IDEOLOGY! OK? Black people are a ‘race.’ Chinese people are a ‘race.’ Even white people are called a ‘race.’ BUT ISLAM IS NOT THAT! Infact, for all its faults (and I could enumerate them here if you want), it is very inclusive of ALL so-called ‘races’ much like Christianity.
I understand, though, where they're coming from. Most are sincere but  ignorant types with intellectual pretensions, who have been pandered too for far too long. It’s to the point they cannot even see their own foolishness and hypocrisy, isn’t it? But don’t worry, I’ll guide you to the land of sensibility.
It begins with the understanding that what Trump wants to do is far less radical than what white, Liberal, and Democratic US President Jimmy Carter did in 1979. You remember the peanut farmer from Georgia? The first US President from a former Confederate state since before the American Civil War? The one who rehabilitated Confederate President Jefferson Davis by posthumously giving him back his citizenship almost 90 years after his death?
Well Carter, in light of the Iranian Hostage Crises BANNED and ordered the REMOVAL of ALL Iranians from the USA. Where was the hue and cry of racism then? I don’t remember it, do you? That really was racism because it didn’t matter what you believed, it only mattered where you were from and what your origin was.
Trump, for all his faults, is not going that far. He is simply saying the USA should vette Muslims OF ALL RACES from EVERYWHERE, presumably including Canada. In light of the fact that Muslims are responsible for all known acts of terrorism in the last 25 years, that’s not such a hard or bigoted platform. This includes 9/11, the Boston and California bombings, the two Paris attacks, the London subway attacks and the attacks in Spain and elsewhere; attacks all performed BY MUSLIMS!
Look, I’m sorry if people disagree. But in a world where any Muslim (it seems) can be ‘radicalized,’ even within North America or Europe, is it not understandable that some precautions should be taken to ensure that those coming form abroad, from countries where Islam is the dominant force and where there are already known acts of terrorism happening, to be more careful? Or have we already forgotten (as it seems people have) that one of the Paris bombers ARRIVED IN FRANCE AS A REFUGEE FROM SYRIA?
Though I'm not a Trump supporter I do understand the man's popularity. It is, in fact, a direct response to the ignorance and claptrap coming from the bleeding-heart Liberal crowd; the kind that cannot see past their own  hypocrisy and foolishness.
They, ALONE, are responsible for Trump's rise from half-witted and cheesy reality-show star to potential world leader. Americans are simply expressing that.
They are tired of being patronized by high-minded liberals with idealistic pretensions  but no real policies. Like Canadians, they want to feel secure and that their government cares about their welfare, not scoring political points to appease politically-correct  buffoons who seem to think they always know better but whose ideas have only contributed to the acts of terror that we see all over the world.
Its now time to listen to them. If nothing else, Trump is certainly doing that!

A Shallow Generation's Choice

By I.M. Ulysses

The victory of Justin Trudeau in the federal election is a bad sign. Not because it represents the return of a party that has done more to damage this country in the last century than any other. Not even because the pronouncements of the new Prime Minster-designate demonstrate him to be a vacuous idiot. It's really the fact that it means the latest generation of voters are a very shallow lot; choosing style over substance, and the superficial over the substantial.
This is the only logical explanation I can imagine as to why they would vote-in such and gaseous windbag as Trudeau. Everything he said before and during the campaign, including his wild-eyed rants about how he would grow 'the economy from the heart outwards,' struck a chord with people. The voters took his every word, it seems, as somehow being 'profound' and 'deep,' instead of the ravings of a preening, pretentious idiot.
Now I'm an educated man. I've studied accounting and economics in college. I understand the ideas behind debits, credits, the Multiplier Effect, Keynesian Economic theory, Supply-side economics, and the Law of Diminishing Returns. But in NONE of those classes I took,  nor later in my professional life, was I ever told (or discovered how ) the best way to increase the GDP (that's Gross Domestic Product, for those who voted for Trudeau)  was by 'the heart outwards.' Nor have I yet discovered how the federal budget (or any budget)  can, and or will, 'balance itself.'
That said, I wanted to test the validity of Trudeau's claims, just in case he really was on to something. So after the election I called my bank and told them that they should not worry about me paying this month's credit card bill because it will 'balance itself.'
I then suggested that if they really wanted my wife and I to be happy customers (along with thousands of others), the best way to do it was to voluntarily cut the interest charges on our card, reduce other fees, and grow their business with us 'from the heart outwards.'
IF they did that, I told them, I would happily send them a photo of Marion and I, along with a book filled with our favourite sayings.  But, best of all, I would invite them to a party using the very credit cards they let us keep.
Needless to say, I don't think it worked too well; we still ended up having to pay the credit card bill (darn it!). I'm also not entirely sure they didn't laugh at me on the phone, and told others working with them that I was a raving idiot (or worse).  But I am sure of one thing; I am sure  that I amused them for a few moments.
That is Trudeau in a nutshell. Will he keep us amused for the next four years? So far it seems very likely. It's also just as likely that by then we, as a nation, will owe lots more money than we do now. But that is the price we will pay for choosing style over substance, and a vacuous idiot over a credible and honest man like Stephen Harper to be our Prime Minister too.

Trudeau and the Rise of the Shallow Generation

By I.M. Ulysses
The election of Justin Trudeau to Prime Minister of Canada does not merely represent a momentary shift in public opinion. It’s a sign that the political and moral pendulum of this country has and is continuing to move left; away from God and the values we once held dear.
The fact is, the people of this once sensible nation have elected a man who is by far the dumbest person to ever become prime minister. He is no statesman, and his woolly-headed ideas are so bizarre as to represent a genuine threat to the Canada I grew up in.
I cannot stress this enough. Justin Trudeau, and his Liberal Party, are the antithesis of all that is sensible and good about this country. His ally in Ontario, the Liberal and lesbian Premier Kathleen Wynne, and her predecessor, Dalton McGuinty, nearly bankrupted my native province! Between the two of them, they slavishly followed a program of bizarre and uneconomical ideas in order to “save the environment” by increasing energy rates, and peppering the province with un-wanted (and unneeded) wind turbines. In the meantime, their social values have contributed to the moral perversion of our young students; warping their minds regarding Judeo-Christian morality in order to introduce a pro-gay agenda for the sake of "tolerance."
I cannot, therefore, help believing that the election of Justin Trudeau is a sign that the slow poison of leftist Liberal thought has finally reached critical mass. They have, apparently, so deluded the minds of a majority of voters that any ideas or beliefs that are contrary to theirs, are somehow morally wrong, old fashioned, out of date, and intolerant (i.e. politically incorrect).
This is more than a swing of the political pendulum, as a friend described it to me. It is, in fact, a generational shift, and a wholesale rejection of what made our nation great.
The voters have shown, by electing a vacuous person like Trudeau, along with a party that has no goal other than a naked desire for power itself, that they are the most superficial, base and shallow generation this country has produced to date! In short, these people are more akin to the sort you would find in a typical class of grade eight kids, rather than a a mature, informed and thoughtful public voting for the best people, best party,  and best platform.
This was manifest in the voters almost irrational hatred of the now-former Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party. Even in the dying days of the election campaign, both he and his ministers were still at work, managing to secure a much-desired trade deal that will protect Canadian jobs and grow our economy (the Trans Pacific Partnership). They also cut taxes (including the hated GST), balanced the budget, and took a firm stand against enemies like ISIS and bullies like Russia.
But it was not enough. No amount of good governance, and sane fiscal policies, could silence the growing chorus of 'change' that seemed to permeate every aspect of this election, leaving me both bewildered and completely out of place in the country of my birth.
No previous election ever made me feel that way, including ones where the public elected Liberal governments. Indeed, I always believed that former Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, was a sensible man who kept Canada together. He had a clear mind and strong personality, one that you could respect even if you disagreed with him. Despite that, it still took several years of the Conservative mandate to fix the mistakes he made too; and he was a very smart man to boot!
Trudeau, however, is not like him at all. Unlike both Chretien and Harper, Canada's newly-minted Prime Minister doesn't have an education in law or economics. This guy's a freaking drama teacher; the partying frat-boy son of a famous former prime minister himself. It's quite doubtful that has ever worked an honest day in his life, living, instead, on his daddy's fame and wealth for years and years!  In this regard JT, as a person is truly representative of the self-indulgent, smug, self-righteous elite class from where is hails!
In that he is no more a genuine representative of the "average" Canuck than a drag queen would be of a nunnery! But it’s more perverse than that too. Trudeau’s victory is a REAL warning that our education system is a failure, demonstrating that the newest generation of voters don't care a whit about real issues or substance.
In short ,by electing this guy, Canadians have told the world that we are a shallow nation, without depth or character, and lacking any genuine values either. We have, in the space of one night, become a laughing stock among the world;  a people easily led astray by pretty smiles, and nonsense talk in the same way that drunken sailors would chase visions of Mermaids to their doom!
How do you fix this? How do you bring sense to a nation determined to destroy itself? In the old days, God punished Israel for its moral failings, first by making them wander in the desert for 40 years and later by banishing them into exile in Babylon for another 70, until the generations that spat in His face were consumed and His wrath abated.
That's not likely to happen now. So how do we repair the mess we have created? Simply put we need a Revolution, a compete overthrow of the current social system that seems to breed imbeciles with high political pretensions, along with the raising up of a generation of truly God-fearing men to lead it.
When or how it will happen, I cannot say. But it is necessary if we want to halt the decay and rot that has infected the minds and hearts of our people for the last 50 years, and culminating in the election of the unqualified twit now preparing to impose his half-witted notions upon us.
If we don’t or can’t, if we have become so afraid of the approbation of weak, childish fools who blindly follow the shallow dictum's of Political Correctness (as represented by the Liberal Party and its gang of elitist snobs), Canada is destined to see its moral decline and social decay continue. We will also bear witness as its once hard-working people turn into a bunch of whiny takers, sucking at the teats of a corrupt regime for sustenance, instead of being nation-builders and risk takers, determined to stand on their own feet, and who have something great to give the generations that follow.
Sad to say, but I see similar tendency in the USA. In eight years, that nation has also witnessed sharp decline in its value system, electing and re-electing a shallow leader who has only a vague idea of economics and true leadership. Under President Obama, America has been in retreat, pulling away and running in the face of crooked criminal regimes and forces, instead of confronting them with confidence and raw power as they have done in the past. This is on top of the current administration's  blatant desire to embark on a left-wing social agenda that is almost as pervasive and perverse as the one now killing Canada.
The only real difference is that the people now running for office in the USA are educated and its Congress can limit the damage that even a genuinely stupid president could do. The Parliament of Canada, however, now full of newly-elected lapdogs and buffoons, can't.
Shallow as the people that voted them in, blinded by the faux light of Trudeau’s smile and vacuous words, and motivated by ideas that have nearly destroyed Ontario, this new generation of Liberals can only do one thing; complete the destruction of Canada that Justin's far more intelligent and qualified father began 48 years ago. Like his son, Pierre Elliott Trudeau had also come to power by riding a wave of popular clamour demanding "change;" “change” that began the perversion of this country’s values and which Harper, and the Conservative Party, were only just beginning to set right.
Now, however, that chapter is over. Canadian voters have rejected the policies that made us the envy of the industrialized world, and replaced them with a Liberalism that had been thoroughly rejected only four years before,
What that means for Canada, in the long term, no one can truly say. What we can say, and indeed must always say is, "God help us all!"
With Trudeau and his Liberals in charge, that saying takes on far more urgency than ever before!

Open Letter to Tom Muclair

Why we don't need 'change.'

By I.M. Ulysses

Dear Mr. Mulcair,
why do people like you always, always, talk about 'change?' For the love of Pete, man, we do NOT need 'change' all the freaking time! What OUR country NEEDS is STABILITY and moderation. We need a firm hand on the tiller, to guide us through rough waters, not some idiot trying to 'change' things.
Indeed, sir, change is not always a good thing. I remember the days in this country when life slowed down on Sundays, and when only my father needed to work for a living to support us. But then we had “CHANGE” and then both my parents worked; and our lives did not markedly improve!
Now most of this ‘change’ happened under the leadership of Trudeau, another person who wanted to 'change' this country. And boy, did he, but not for the better sadly.
Indeed, it's because of guys like him that our country fell into horrible debt, one we are still paying for. It was guys like him that made it necessary for both parents to work because the idea of a 'job for life' went out the window due to higher taxes to support the endless programs necessary now because the cost of living as gone up.  It is because of guys like him, who were so narrow-mindedly focused on ‘change' that the social constraints we once had, such as fear of God, fear of our parents, and fear of the law,  were wiped out in a head-long rush to appease perverts, crybabies, whiners, social-outcasts and/or 'minorities.'
You see we 'changed' back then, too, Mr. Mulcair. And what did that get us? Nowhere!! It actually led to a plethora of new and/or even bigger problems we cannot control and are forced now  to spend countless billions in tax dollars on to mitigate.
Where once our values, our social morality, our genuine human capacity for compassion rested on our personal beliefs and values, they now rely solely on social programs paid by everyone.  And when that is not enough, we also have political-correctness, along with the Toolbags that promote it; passing laws that limit our freedom of speech, of expression (except for those who promote the line of bull being passed around as 'truth' and 'change' by idiots), while limiting the power of the police to take action against those who legitimately deserve to be behind bars.
In short, sir, the lunatics have taken over the asylum and they are running wild all over the place. And here you come to me, cap in hand, asking for support, because you think I want 'change?'
I HAVE HAD ENOUG OF CHANGE. The only 'change' I want to see is for people to stop pandering to perverts, crybabies, bleeding-hearts, and spoiled brats. I want people to say 'we've had enough, time to dial this back. Time to allow God back into our lives, into the social fabric of our country. Time to quit listening to the crazy and selfish ones among us, the one’s whose morality is based not on Biblical or traditional values, but on jealousy, self-righteousness, and greed.  It's also time to quit opening our doors to those people who come to our shores not to give but to take; people who neither respect the right of others to speak freely (because they are perpetually offended), or whose values are at complete odds with those of Canadians.
Take my dad. He came to this country over 50 years ago from Greece and worked hard all his life. He did a number of jobs and tried to build a life for us. He never once complained as others do now, about how this country was governed, who he had to pledge allegiance too when he became a Canadian citizen, or how he was treated.
My dad learned English. He took low-paying jobs, even started a small business and for a number of years did fairly well, before time and circumstances forced him to do something else.  And when he had a chance to move to the USA where his sister, my aunt, decided to raise her Canadian-born kids, he stayed behind in THIS country. Indeed, when the time came for him to marry the woman that is my mom, she told her mother, my grandma, that she was not marrying 'John' she was 'marrying Canada.'
That Canada they knew no longer exists. It was killed off by people who 'wanted change' and got it. In the process they killed off all the good things that made this country great. Now both myself and my wife, like my parents, need to work - indeed, I work TWO jobs to help pay the bills and I'm an educated man too!
Like my dad, we see how the short-sighted polices forced on to the government by social-change quacks and other assorted idealists, have made it dangerous to go to neighborhoods that, as a child, I once felt perfectly safe in. We have shootings daily, kids being raised by single moms, parents fighting and divorcing because of easy laws, and the intuition of marriage perverted by allowing gay people to 'marry' in the name of 'change' and the nebulous idea of 'equality.'
Our values, Mr. Mulcair, have all gone down the crapper, replaced not by a morality that all people can embrace but by a cold hard political-correctness that smothers freedom, and oppresses whose hopes rest on the providence of God and not the policies of government. It’s so pervasive, infact, that that this country REEKS of it. It permeates almost every aspect of our society and politics and creates more divisions and more problems than it ever prevented; hence requiring even more of the 'change' you talk about and more government and laws to combat it, along with higher taxes and more spending too.
It is, therefore, not 'change' we need but common sense and a return to the values that made us great. We need to go back to frugality, to respect for the law not mere obedience of it. We need to put God back into our classrooms, and quit pandering to perverts, idealists and those who are always demanding 'change.'
WE need to cut taxes on hard-working people so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labour, encourage free enterprise, and get government to work for us and not for the agenda of promoted by idealists and idiots. WE need to pay down the debts of this great land. We need new roads, cheaper energy (not energy bought at artificially raised prices to support the political proclivities of environmental idealists), a larger and more modern defence force and security services, and less government in our lives telling how to think or what to believe.
If you can or are willing to provide THAT, then you'll have my whole-hearted support. But if you can't or won't then  you need to go back and troll for votes among the young, the naïve, the idealists, the drug addicts, the perverts, the lazy, the crybaby whiners and the hopelessly stupid - in short, the 'useful idiots' of that Lenin spoke of.
I'm not one of those. I love my country and Canadians. We are a decent people, and we need to remember that. But more than that we need to stop seeking 'change' and start working with what we have and make it better.
A long time ago, man bought a piece of land. He dug a hole, laid the concrete and built a house upon it. A few years later a tornado came by and ripped it from its foundation. He lost all his possessions but his family was safe. What did he do? Move? No. He checked the foundation and found it sound. Then he rebuilt his house upon it, exactly like the one he had before. When his neighbors asked him why he did it instead of moving away or building something new, he said 'the things I had are gone but the memories are the same. I can replace everything I bought but why would I want to replace my memories? This is my home and I won't let some hot air make me leave it. I just need to make it stronger and I will.'
I'm like him. Canada is my home and the “wind” are those calling for 'change.' They may level my house but I'll be damned if I agree to let them destroy me or my family. I want to REBUILD what I had because it was GOOD, not move on and start fresh, or build something entirely new.  The tornado, after all,  did not prove that what I had was flawed, only that it needed to be made stronger, NOT REPLACED.
If you will help me to rebuild my "home," and my country, and make it stronger, then you will have earned a friend for life. But if you are like the "wind" that blows and tries to destroy what I know was good, and right, you may succeed in destroying what I had. But, rest assured I will rebuild it and make it stronger. Just like that house in the story, my foundations are set in concrete and they are strong. And because of that I neither want or need 'change.'
Sincerely,
I.M. Ulysses.

The Moral Pollution of so-called 'Gay Marriage.'

By I.M. Ulysses.
So-called 'gay marriage' is not 'equal' marriage because so-called 'gay marriage' is not marriage at all. It is something new and deserves its own term.
It is not equal to marriage either because marraige is a moral rite dervied from religoius and cultural traditions, none of which ever EVER EVER involved people of the same sex geting 'marred.' To, therefore, call 'gay marriage' the equivalent of REAL marriage is to denigrate real marriage by taking the sacred, holy and God-blessed union between a man and a woman and making equivalent to the ungodly, immoral, and sinful relationship that gay people have.
So-called 'gay marriage,' therefore, is not nor can it ever be 'equal' to real marraige because it is morally vacant, biblically and culturally unsupported, and physically impossible. Same sex relationships, having no moral foundation and representing a perversion of all that is right and acceptable, cannot become or ever be allowed to sustain a position of equality with real marraige, because doing so reduces the value and esteem of the marriage of a woman and a man by turning it merely into a legalized sexual relationship.
Yet gay relationships are already legal, for it is widely accepted in western societies that the private sexual practices of people is not the business of the state or of anyone else. For gays, therefore, to demand that their relationships be solemnized as so-called 'marriages' is not merely a desire for legal recognition of their sexual preference, but moral validation; something which Western societies, whose legal and moral foundation is the Bible, simplly does not permit.
Having failed to persuade God that homosexuality should not be considered a sin, they cry 'inequality' in the ears of impressionable children, secularists, and those who have no fear of God, or respect the moral underpinings of our society. In so doing, however, they only further demonstrate how deprave they are and how far great a crime it would be for anyone to allow them to usurp the term 'marriage' for their own use, instead of coming up with a term themselves.
